Research Flowmeters

Many research protocols call for measurement of respiratory flow, volume, and pressure parameters. Research measurement requirements for humans range from the smallest neonate (pre-term infant) to exercising athletes. In addition, animal research measurements are required for mice as well as large animals.

In the past, researchers have had to make their own systems to process pneumotach signals to measure this broad range of flows. The RSS100 by Korr Medical Technologies interfaces to any Fleisch or screen type pneumotach to measure respiratory flow in any research situation. In addition, Korr provides fixed orifice sensors to be used for chronic tests where the subject is intubated.

The RSS100 connects directly to the pneumotach and outputs respiratory flow, pressure, and volume signals in both analog and digital formats. The RSS100’s integrated breath detection algorithms detect each breath and calculate 17 parameters that describe each breath.

This system is in use in many university, government, and industrial research laboratories.
