CardioCoach™ Plus FAQ What type of exercise equipment is used?
Any type of cardio equipment that allows you to perform a graded exercise test taking your client to a maximum heart rate. Most often a treadmill or stationary bike is used.
Is a computer required?
The CardioCoach printout provides all the information needed to instruct clients regarding the heart rate necessary to exercise at various target workout zones for fat burning, aerobic training, and cardio training. The printout prints directly from the CardioCoach™ to a printer that comes with your unit at the time of purchase.
If a trainer desires to interject their own expertise into the design of a workout, KORR™ has software available, CardioCoach Monitor (purchased separately). A personal computer is required to view the data and create custom workout plans. Does it measure CO2?
The CardioCoach™ measures oxygen consumption only, providing measurements of Peak VO2, aerobic threshold, anaerobic threshold, and VO2 Max, as well as RMR. For those requiring substrate utilization, a CO2 measurement is available with the CardioCoach™ CO2 unit.
What is the length of RMR test?
The RMR portion of the CardioCoach™Plus test takes approximately 12 minutes. The unit determines when a steady state has been reached, allowing for a correct measurement. That is why there is some variability in the time of testing.
Can the same mask be used for the exercise test and the RMR test?
No. The mask for VO2 testing is not sensitive enough for the low flow data of RMR testing. The smaller valve of the METABREATHER™ is required.
Can you test RMR and VO2 on the same day?
Yes, as long as the resting test is done first adhering to the proper resting state protocol.
