Terminology

Absolute Maximum Ratings Defined

The Absolute Maximum Ratings are those limits for the device that, if exceeded, will likely damage the device. Exceeding the absolute maximum ratings voids any warranty and/or guarantee from Korr Medical Technologies Inc.

Operating Characteristics Defined

The Operating Characteristics are those limits for the device that, if exceeded, will cause the device to operate out of specification. Under these conditions, values reported from the device will be unreliable. After the "out-of-limit" condition is corrected, the device will return to normal operation after either an auto-zero or after the device has been powered down and then powered back up.

Other Useful Terms

Common-mode Pressure - The pressure applied to both ports of the differential pressure transducer. Typically this is the breathing circuit airway pressure. The differential pressure ports are connected to the "Flow Sensor" pneumatic fittings on the RSS 100 front panel.

FSO - Full scale output.

Power Requirements

Absolute Maximum Ratings

  • Input Voltage Range 90 to 264 VAC
  • Input Frequency Range 50 to 60 Hz

Operating Characteristics

  • Power Consumption 1 Watt (typ.) 3 watt (max.)
  • Fuse Rating (110 VAC) 0.50 Amp Fast Acting
  • Fuse Rating (220 VAC) 0.25 Amp Fast Acting

Environmental Conditions

Absolute Maximum Ratings

  • Storage Temperature 0 to 70 ° C

Operating Characteristics

  • Temperature 10 to 45 ° C
  • Ambient Relative Humidity 0 to 95% (non-condensing)
  • Barometric Pressure 400 to 900 mmHg
  • Elevation -1000 to 16,000 Feet
  • Vibration The RSS 100 uses sensitive differential pressure transducers. These pressure transducers are sensitive to vibration and mechanical shock. Excessive vibration will cause artifact on both the flow and pressure signals. This may cause erroneous readings on the monitor.

Auxiliary Pressure

Absolute Maximum Ratings

  • Maximum Applied Pressure 5 psi

Operating Characteristics

  • Operating Pressure ± 120 cmH2O
  • Span Accuracy ± 2% reading (or 0.5cmH2O)
  • Offset Stability ± 1cmH2O
  • Frequency Response > 12 Hz
  • Resolution 0.06 cmH2O
  • Sample Rate 50 Hz

Airway Pressure

Absolute Maximum Ratings

  • Maximum Applied Pressure 5 psi

Operating Characteristics

  • Operating Pressure ± 120 cmH2O
  • Span Accuracy ± 2% reading (or 0.5cmH2O)
  • Offset Stability ± 1cmH2O
  • Frequency Response > 12 Hz
  • Resolution 0.06 cmH2O
  • Sample rate 50 Hz

NOTE: Airway pressure is internally tapped off the proximal (BLUE) flow sensor port.

Differential Pressure

Absolute Maximum Ratings

  • Maximum Applied Common-mode Pressure 5 psi
  • Maximum Applied Differential Pressure ± 11 inH2O

Operating Characteristics

  • Operating Pressure ± 10 inH2O

Neonatal Fixed-orifice Pneumotach (Cat #2100)

Operating Characteristics

  • Flow Range ± 40 LPM
  • Linearity < 2% reading
  • Interchangeability < 2.25% reading
  • Inlet Condition Immunity < 5% reading
  • Frequency Response > 25 Hz<

Adult Fixed-orifice Pneumotach (Cat #2101)

Operating Characteristics

  • Flow Range ± 180 LPM
  • Linearity < 1% reading
  • Interchangeability < 1.5% reading
  • Inlet Condition Immunity < 4% reading
  • Frequency Response > 25 Hz

Linear Pneumotachs

Operating Characteristics

  • Neonatal Flow Range ± 40 LPM
  • Adult Flow Range ± 180 LPM
  • Exercise Flow Range ± 1000 LPM
  • Accuracy < 0.5% of reading typical in linear range

NOTE: The linear pneumotachs are user supplied. Korr does not dictate what types of linear pneumotachs can be used with the RSS 100. The pneumotach selection in the software accommodates display scaling. The accuracy and precision of flow or volume calculations with a linear pneumotach will generally be dependent on the characteristics of the pneumotach used. The RSS 100 will limit the accuracy and precision to about 0.5 % of reading typical.
